"In between writing, recording and touring, they manage to fit in guest appearances on film and TV, notably The L Word. 'We are totally fans of the show. It has blazed successfully a place on television for alternative programming with lesbians (cute/smart ones at that) as the lead characters. The filming of our scene was so fun. It was a great experience.'" (read full article).

"'I'm not a religious person, and I really struggle with the terminology to describe this because people always laugh,' admitted Sara Quin. 'We knew instinctually how to make music. We somehow knew that we would be able to succeed. There was a relaxed faith in what I was doing. As soon as I picked up the guitar, I started writing songs. To this day, when I write songs, it's still this very strange chemical reaction that I can't really explain.'" (read full article).

"When discussing Emy Storey — the band’s artistic director and Sara’s girlfriend of five years, with whom she had declared a common-law relationship — Sara was candid about the dissolution of their romance. '[Emy] is a tremendously huge part of what Tegan and I do in terms of the artwork and the Web site and the vision,” she said. “In kind of a weird way, she was like my Yoko Ono for five years. … It’s really difficult when the romantic part of your relationship kind of seems like it’s over, but you can’t just dissolve the rest of it — that would be awful. We’re obviously really involved and we want to continue to work together, but it’s really tough.'" (read full article).
Q&A with Tegan and Sara: "I think as I get older and meet more twins, especially girl twins, it doesn't really bother me. But it is creepy, I mean it's creepy, we look just like each other, its really weird! (laughs). But I understand, I guess being a twin is weird. It's like a freak show, but it gets old reading about the "twin girls from Canada" - its' like 'ugh!' That makes us sound so lame." (read full article).

Q&A with Tegan: "It is such a one-dimensional world sometimes, being out on the road playing all the time. I like to back off a little bit when I get home and not think about music so much, so I can develop other parts of my brain." (read full article).

"Yes, it seems that recently, Walla's solo record (which has been scheduled to come out at various points over the past, well, four years) took another step toward oblivion when the master hard drive — containing all song files — was confiscated by Homeland Security at the Canadian border, for reasons not abundantly clear, and sent to the department's computer-forensics division for further inspection." "'Tegan and I were totally different from the moment we were born. We were really independent, into really different things,' she said.

'We’ve experienced a lot of the same things at the same time, because we were going through Grade 8 at the same time or my parents’ divorce at the same age, we have a really unique bond.'

And while long months on tour can make or break even the tightest-knit bands, Sara says being there with her sister keeps her sane." (read).

Highlights from The Coast:

"'We're not writing about sexuality," says Tegan Rain Quin, calling from Red Deer, Alberta. "Sometimes identifying us as lesbians, I'm not sure entirely how beneficial that is for our music. If you are writing a personality piece, I suppose that makes total sense to talk about the fact that we're twins and we're lesbians, or that we're from Canada. But if you Google "Tegan and Sara,' you get gay.'"

and

"'On a day-to-day level I would tend to say it's not a terrible struggle being in a same-sex relationship," says Storey in an email, of their matrimony. 'Especially in the genre of indie-rock/pop. However, there's a lot of education that needs to be done. In a small way we are challenged by helping friends and colleagues unlearn sexist and homophobic behaviour they don't even know they have.'"
